4 CATFISH HOME TO NORTH AMERICA

There are over 3,000 species of catfish both freshwater and saltwater. Some species like the Nile catfish in Africa swim upside down to feed on the water's surface. If you haven't noticed their "whiskers" yet be sure to look at their skin. Catfish are among the few fish who have scaleless skin and whiskers to help them taste food.

With over 40 North American species we highlighted the top 4 catfish who are native to North America.

One of them holds the state fish title for four U.S. States. Read our catfish info graphic for fun little tidbits about Bullhead Catfish, Madtom Catfish, Channel Catfish and Blue Catfish.
