Fishing began for Robby with his Dad when he was three years old catching Smallmouth Bass at Lake Sebago. “I got my fishing genes from my Dad. I soaked up all this knowledge from fishing with my Dad. I would say 70 percent of my fishing style is influenced by him.” said Robby. He spent his youth learning the ropes and soaking up all this knowledge while charting new waters. Growing, from fishing the Long Island Sound to his college days surf fishing in Rhode Island, Robby’s lifelong passion navigated into a full-time job charting the waters.

When he’s not fishing for work, he’s still out on the waters fishing. “Rob Time” as he calls it. He fishes about 190-220 days out of the year. During saltwater season Robby and his first mate, Shane, fish 7 days out of the week. When saltwater season has ended, you’ll still find him ice fishing with his friends; one of his favorite things to do. Even if the fish aren’t biting, Robby enjoys the company. His favorite winters are spent in a rented heated cabin gathered around with a rod to “fish” for hours on end.

Over the years, he continues to learn the ins and outs of how to get the bite and hone his skill as a fisherman. The best part of his job is tackling new challenges that surface. “I learn something new every day. Nothing is ever the same,” said Robby. And when challenges do arise, Robby has years of experience to fall back on so everything on his boat runs smooth. His laid-back demeanor and infectious enthusiasm spill over because there’s always something out there waiting to be caught.

Robby has logged hundreds of thousands of hours in preparation for his charters. At 2:45 a.m. you’ll find him hunkered down catching bait for his 6:00 a.m. charter. All the early mornings and behind-the-scenes work of grabbing bait, boat maintenance and the business side of things always pays off. “Not everyone gets to do this,” said Robby. And by “this” he means enjoy the experience of fishing on the ocean. Folks who live nowhere near the ocean don’t get to experience what a day on the ocean looks like. Their reaction says it all. For Robby, seeing the joy and smiles on people’s faces is the most satisfying part of living out the Ultimate Lifestyle.
